Hey Mogulville, I am back, sorry for the hiatus I have been on, had some things going on that's been keeping me preoccupied, but I am back now! You guys have requested various disembowling, autopsy, and surgical related effects (for both your horror films, Cop, and Medical shows respectively, I hope.) Even though we've covered various related effects previously, I thought that tying them together in a singular effect would be a good way to accomplish the effect many of you are looking for.
First, get a big flat area about the size of your actor's abdomen to work on.
I am using paper towels for this for a few reasons. Firstly they are cheap and easy to find, secondly, because they are nice and thick and can hold the weight needed for this application pretty well. You could use latex for this easily, but really it's up to you, I like these because they are cheap and strong, and that's what I need for this.
Get some white glue (which i've used previously for cheap-o fake skin) and spray it on the first piece.
After spreading it out push the second sheet onto the first, smoothing it out best you can as you go.
After painting it with the right skin tone, trim the edges to be more rounded off.
Let it dry thoroughly at this stage before you procede further.
Flip it over and squirt the fake blood mixture of your choice along the center (however long you're going to split it).
Dab it around to smooth it out and color the center all red.
Go ahead and pre-cut it before you move further.
Now, attach it to another section of paper towels underneath it using more glue.
Now, just darken the area underneath it, and now it's just a matter of adding whatever mix of fake organs you want! With this, you can just attach it to your actors chest and stomach using spirit gum, then just fill it up with our fake intestines and the fake heart, and add some extra flair from all of the other gorey builds we've done, and you can have a gorey open abdomen effect for cheap! Post any questions or comments below!
